My First Movie Lead 20 Years ago…

I have been in and out of acting for the past 10 years, but it still remains a deep seeded passion. I can still recall great scenes I did at Lee Strasberg Institute and the Atlantic theater Co.. I can remember the joyous ride of some magical improv scenes with my old troupe, Handsometown, at the PIT. I vividly remember working through the character Harliquino in front of the great Tim Robbins at the Actors Gang. Until recently I have thought of my journey of acting to be almost dead.

I recently had a small part in Eltingville where I played a mobster, James O’connor. Just this weekend it was brought to my attention that my first lead role in a movie (21 years ago), Harlem’s Beauty, was on Amazon Prime. I curiously watched this film with my wife. If you asked me 10 years ago I would have said this movie was horrific and I was terrible. Though it is not going to win an Oscar and I am not going to win an Oscar for my portrayal of Steven, it did have some moments. Though there were some cringeworthy writing and performances by me, there was some good stuff. I actually had a few good scenes! Anyway I am never going to give up at least performing for joy and if I am able to make some money, that is a bonus. Please see the trailer below and if you have some time please buy on Amazon Prime.

FIRST INTERVIEW FOR “A LIST”

My interview with Johnny Whitworth was my first experience in the podcasting medium. He is a very interesting and accomplished actor. He is a buddy and also a person who was “young hollywood” when LEO took off. We discussed his star making role n in Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Rainmaker”. It was fascinating to hear about his journey and and experience during the cult classic “Empire Records”. Look forward to my interview with Johnny in August during the “A List”.
